We are excited to start 2022 with a fresh focus on our Sustainable Subdivisions Framework (SSF).
Victorian Councils have been trialling the SSF since October 2020. The 6-month Evaluation Report of the trial found that while there was some success, internal council resourcing for the trial was a challenge and represented a barrier to some councils in fully participating in the trial. However, the report also found that there is no one-size-fits all for Councils, with capacity building as well as outcomes considered a measure of success.
As a result of the findings from the first six months, councils have now introduced a new category for Very Large (250+ lots) Subdivisions, developed clear and concise Applicant Kits and Submission Templates, and modified the standards for small and medium subdivisions to ensure the SSF is fit for purpose.
The trial is scheduled to conclude in October 2022.
